Please note that these are not plant foods or fertilizers, they are a combination of natural ingredients intended to improve plant growth. We have been using these formulas in our gardens, fields and greenhouses since 1992, and we use them on everything we grow. We would not make them available to our customers if we did not firmly believe that they do enhance the growth and health of plants they are applied to.
Jim's Plant Growth
Stimulators
The following products are used in making
Jim's Plant Growth Stimulators :
Technical Grade H202 ( Hydrogen
Peroxide )
If any substance is interesting, it's
hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide should really be called
hydrogen dioxide. Its chemical formula is
H202 . It contains one more atom of
oxygen that does water (H20 )
By now everyone's aware of the ozone layer that surrounds the
earth. Ozone consists of three atoms of oxygen . This
protective layer of ozone is created when ultraviolet light
from the sun splits an atmospheric oxygen molecule into two
single, unstable oxygen atoms.
These single molecules combine with others to form ozone .
Ozone isn't very stable. In fact, it will quickly give up that
extra atom of oxygen to falling rainwater to form hydrogen
peroxide (H202 ).
It is this hydrogen peroxide in rainwater that makes it so much
more effective than tap water when given to plants. With the
increased levels of atmospheric pollution, however, greater
amounts of H202 react with air-borne
toxins and never reach the ground.
To compensate for this, many farmers have been increasing crop
yields by spraying them with diluted hydrogen peroxide (5 to 16
ounces of 35% mixed with 20 gallons of water per acre).
H202 is a natural sustance, in fact, our
body produces H202 to fight infections
when we are sick.
Gibberellic Acid
Gibberellic Acid is a member
of a type of plant hormone called Gibberellins, which
regulate the growth rate of plants. It was first discovered
in Japan, in 1935 as a result of the study of a condition
common in rice plants called "foolish seedling" disease,
which caused the plants to grow much taller than normal. The
effects of gibberellins weren't widely understood until years
later.
Gibberellic Acid is EPA approved, and is commercially used to
grow most fruits and vegetables we eat.
B1 Vitamins and Plant Hormones
We use a
blend of plant vitamins and hormones in Jim's Plant Growth Stimulators to
stimulate plant growth and allow the plant to absorb food
from the soil quicker and also assimilate micronutrients
that they may not normally be able to absorb due to various
soil conditions.
Micronutrients
Each type of plant benifits
from variations of micronutrients, ( that is why we have
made so many different varieties of Plant Growth
Stimulators ), so we've added Boron (B), Copper (Cu),
Iron (Fe), Manganese (Mn), Molybdenum (Mo), Sulfer (S)
and Zinc (Zn) in proportions best suited for the type of
plant the solution is prepared for. Some solutions will
also carry calcium additives as well.
Other ingredients
We also add a natural
detergent additive to Jim's Plant
Growth Stimulators that causes the sprayed
on solution to "stick" to the plant leaves until the
solution is absorbed by the plant, this detergent also
discourages insects from feeding on the leaves for a
short time after the solution is applied.
