MegaGro Growth Stimulator FAQ
Basic Information and Instructions
Why should I use MegaGro?
If you've been growing plants with little success or using gallons of fertilizers on your plants and seeing minimal results, you need MegaGro. MegaGro will kick-start your plant's growth instincts by stimulating cell growth.
Do I need to use fertilizer with MegaGro?
MegaGro will work with or without fertilizers or plant foods. Fertilizers and plant food only provide the basic building blocks for a plant to grow. Most ornamental plants already have that in abundance thanks to the rich potting soil or compost.
What kind of results can I expect from MegaGro?
MegaGro's primary effect is to produce larger plants. In stimulating new growth, you will see the added benefits of greener and healthier plants.
Will MegaGro work on my plants?
This is a common question. MegaGro can be used on all varieties of ornamentals, including houseplants, flowers, trees and shrubs. MegaGro can also be used in your garden on fruits and vegetables. You can start by checking our Applications section for specific instructions and effects on many popular plant species. If you do not find a particular species, don’t worry. MegaGro has been designed as a general all-purpose growth solution that can be used on almost every variety. We are continually updating the Applications page as we receive success stories from our customers.
How often should I use MegaGro?
You should spray MegaGro on your plants with every watering. Add MegaGro Concentrate to your watering regiment, and water at regular intervals.
Why spray instead of pour?
The main answer is that it delivers the active ingredient in a targeted fashion to the growing area of the plant, be it foliage or blossom. It also provides a way to deliver repeated treatments without over watering. For an enhanced effect, we recommend that you use the concentrate in addition to the spray every time you water. Adding MegaGro to your watering solution provides a second uptake mechanism for the active ingredient.
Is MegaGro safe?
MegaGro is safe to use on all houseplants, outdoor plants, fruits, and vegetables, and does not harm our ecosystem. MegaGro contains no harmful chemicals, and is safe for use around children, pets, and food. The active ingredient in MegaGro is EPA approved, and is commercially used to grow most fruits and vegetables we eat. Contact us for further information at Info@megagro.com.
How should I mix MegaGro Concentrate?
To make 1 gallon of watering solution, add 4 capfuls of MegaGro Concentrate.
How do I use MegaGro Refill?
Pour the contents of the MegaGro Refill bottle into the empty 32-ounce MegaGro Spray bottle. Fill the bottle to the top of the label with distilled water.
What is the difference between the concentrate and refill?
The refill is specifically designed for the 32 ounce MegaGro Spray bottle. The MegaGro concentrate is engineered to be used in watering the roots of your plants. Substituting bottles could cause severe damage to your plants.
What is the concentration in ppm (parts per million) of the product?
The spray bottle is a 10 ppm solution of Gibberellic Acid (GA). The concentrate is a 1600 ppm (.16%) solution of GA.
How do I submit a question on a specific type of plant?
You can start buy looking at our Applications section. This may provide answers for you. If you still have questions, you can send us an e-mail. Or use our contact form.
Are there detailed instructions on how to use MegaGro in specific situations, and do you have Technical Support?
We have used our product on dozens of species of ornamental plants, but we obviously can’t cover all instructions. What we have tried to do with MegaGro is to create an all-purpose product that can be safely used with most species. We try to offer as much support as possible to our customers, but with hundreds of thousands of plant species, detailed instructions aren’t always possible.
Advanced Information
How can I use MegaGro to accelerate the PROPAGATION OF SEEDS?
From previous experiments, we know that results can be mixed when using GA for seed germination. Generally speaking, there is a significant percentage increase in germination rates and post-germination growth rates in most of the tree species studied. It appears to be most effective on species which develop a hard seed coat.
The most prudent way to test the GA on your seeds would be to continue the cold stratification process using a 200 ppm solution of GA (20 capfuls of MegaGro concentrate in 32oz of water) on a small sample of your seeds. Allow the seeds to continue the stratification process until they germinate. If the species you are working with have a hard seed coat, scarification of the seed coat in conjunction with the GA treatment should boost your results. You may want to review “Seed Germination Theory and Practice” by Norman C. Deno.
Is using MegaGro in conjunction with a POWDER ROOTING HORMONE to facilitate the ROOTING OF CUTTINGS taken from flowering bushes, trees, and shrubs recommended?
The joint effect of GA and a rooting hormone, generally IAA or IBA can be pretty dramatic. Since these hormones target different growth mechanisms, they can generally be used in conjunction with each other.
Will MegaGro accelerate and/or EXTEND THE BLOOMING SEASON OF BONSAI?
GA has a positive effect on the length of the growing season and bloom cycle in nearly all species that have been studied to date.
Will MegaGro help fill out OAK TREES AND WALNUT TREES?
Yes, GA can certainly help fill them out. The USDA has done numerous studies with GA on Oak and Walnut trees. For best results, spray MegaGro on the terminal buds throughout the growing season. It should produce near constant growth through the entire season and help your trees fill out. You can start out with the MegaGro Spray, but you may want to also try mixing a stronger solution with the concentrate, perhaps up to 100 ppm (add 10 capfuls of the concentrate to 32 oz of water).
Will MegaGro INCREASE THE SEED QUANTITY OF GERMINATION OF CHINESE ELM SEEDS?
We have no data on Ulmus parvifolia, but other species of the Ulmus family appear to have improved germination rates with GA.
Will MegaGro work on BARE OR DYING AREAS OF ST. AUGUSTINE LAWN?
In general, it should improve the overall growth rate and if you apply grass seed to the bare areas you should see a pretty high germination rate for the seed. A caution…if you plan to use it on your lawn, use it in the evenings after the sun has set.
Can MegaGro be used to PRODUCE FLOWERS ON BROMELIADS?
MegaGro can be used to induce flowering in bromeliads. The active ingredient is used commercially to promote improved growth and flowering of many common species. Pineapple (a bromeliad) growers also use GA to improve fruiting and increase juice production.
How does MegaGro work on TOMATOES?
The active ingredient in MegaGro has been used for years to improve fruit set in tomatoes. You can use the MegaGro Spray for several uses. With young plants, spray periodically to improve their overall size and leaf area. Once the plants have blossomed, use the spray to encourage fruit production. MegaGro may also produce some seedless tomatoes, which is okay. The active ingredient is the same one produced by the seeds to encourage fruit ripening, so MegaGro is just tricking the plant.
How does MegaGro work on TROPICAL HIBISCUS ROSA SINENSIS (CHINESE ROSE)?
Gibberellic Acid is used frequently on the tree topiary forms of hibiscus to produce stem elongation. GA has also been used extensively to improve early flowering by spraying early buds with GA solutions, like MegaGro. For improved seed germination, try soaking seeds in the MegaGro concentrate at approximately 100 ppm for several hours.
Can MegaGro be used to GROW LARGER SEEDLESS GRAPES?
Yes, it will. The active ingredient in MegaGro, Gibberellic Acid (GA), is a plant growth regulator used by nearly all commercial grape growers to force grape production and to produce larger grapes. Grapes tend to be very small if GA is not used. MegaGro should be used on grapes by spraying the bunches in two applications, the first application at the last blooming stage and the second should be applied one week after.
Does MegaGro work well on NERIUM OLEANDERS?
MegaGro will work well to give an added boost to the already fast growth rates of oleanders. This should work particularly well if you have a new plant in an area you are looking to fill and want to really jump start things. MegaGro will also help improve the blooming - both size and number. Oleanders tend to get a little bushy, so prune as needed.
Does MegaGro work well on ANTHURIUMS (FLAMINGO FLOWER?
MegaGro can be used to induce significant side-shoots in anthuriums. Like nearly all flowers, MegaGro should also increase the size and number of blossoms in your Flamingo Flower.
Does MegaGro work well on ORCHIDS?
The active ingredient in MegaGro is used commercially to produce various effects in orchids. Gibberellic Acid (GA) treatments are used to produce upper pitchers in most species, although care should be taken since GA can cause stem elongation, and may weaken the plant stem. Like most flowers, orchids will respond well to MegaGro spray treatments to produce bigger blooms and increase inflorescence production. Certain research, although inconclusive at this point, suggests that GA may aid in triggering off-season spiking and differentiation in the flowering stem.
Testimonials
First and foremost, let me say how pleased I am with your product, MegaGro. The primary reason that I purchased your product was for my hobby of breeding and collecting roses (more info at Collecting and Breeding Roses) but I have found it to work just as well on my wife’s cactus plants, tomatoes and houseplants.
For my established roses, I sprayed them once with MegaGro in the early spring. The blooms have increased in number and are larger and fuller than they have ever been. The foliage amount has increased on the plants also and they look healthier than ever.
On my rose seedlings, I sprayed them soon after they sprouted. Some of them reached bloom size (usually around four months), within a two month period. All of them matured sooner and were able to be transplanted outside much earlier than normal. This allowed me to harden them off before the heat of the summer months. Once transplanted outside, I plan on spraying them one or two more times this year.
I also plan on spraying all my antique roses (one-time blooming) after their bloom cycle is over to encourage new growth for next year as they only bloom on one-year old wood.
As I mentioned, I have also used MegaGro on my wife’s plants. The cactus plants have been sprayed three times this year thus far. They are sending out more shoots than ever before. Considering this, I am anxious to see how many blooms it will produce. The houseplants are doing remarkably well. They have grown considerably and the foliage is much greener. The tomatoes have been sprayed twice. They also have increased in size quite rapidly. We are using your product sparingly on the tomatoes though. We learned quickly to follow the directions because the plants will spend all their time producing foliage and forget about setting fruit.
I am so pleased with your product that I am going to write an article about the benefits of using Gibbellate Acid in rose culture and place it on my website. In conclusion, I wish to thank you for providing an exceptional product. I am a very happy customer and will be ordering again soon.

Good Day, Megagro. Where to begin? I sprayed my seedlings twice, and I now have plants over 4 feet tall in wire guides. I measured the growth rate again today and it grew 2 inches overnight. Blooms are evident on all plants, but I don't expect mature fruit until the end of September. I have spread the word on your great product.
Thanks for making my gardening dream come true. (need some tomatoes?)

We planted six identical oleander plants, and used MegaGro on 3 and another growth stimulator on 3. We noticed at once that the MegaGro made them "perk up". When it was time for the 3rd treatment (2 weeks into the experiment), it was obvious that the MegaGro plants were taller and greener, I simply used it on all six plants. Add to this that it was the first 100+ week in Phoenix, and you really have a miracle.
Other plants I tried MegaGro on were: European Hibiscus - literally sprouted a new plant; Dracena Draco - MegaGro caused considerable thickening of the weak stem; African Violets - loved it!; Cape Jasmine and Jasmine - good results; White Bougainvilla and Purple Lantana - were failing, down to a small twig. MegaGro brought it back, almost 2 feet growth in a month.

Darn! I'm impressed!
I bought your product to speed tree seed germination for Bonsai trees. Although I am testing a very small amount of seeds I thought I would report my progress. Malus Baccata (Siberian Crab Apple) was the first batch of seeds to show signs of germination. I ended their period of cold stratification tonight along with several other species. I am trying to germinate 14 Siberian Crab Apple seeds. Seven of which are in moist perlite and no GA [MegaGro]. The other seven are in a moist paper towel, (so I can see their progress easier), with a 2000ppm solution of GA. As of tonight 3 of the 7 seeds exposed to GA have sprouted. None of the seeds untreated have shown signs of germination as yet.
So far I am pleased with the results, but the REAL kicker is this:
Last Friday I noticed 2 Sugar Maple seeds whirly-gigging on down to the ground. These didn't appear to be new seeds. They appeared healthy as they retained some of their green coloring in addition to seeming pretty much dried out. I placed them in a paper towel moistened only with a 2000ppm solution of your Megagro. 3 days later, believe it or not, BOTH sprouted! Exposed to Megagro only and in a Megagro-moistened paper towel both of those seeds sent out their first root! Megagro is great! It really works!
Megagro certainly lives up to its claims! I'll certainly buy it again. Thanx Guys!

My neighbors and I share a newly planted patch of grass used to cover utilities. I have been using Megagro on each plant. Tonight my neighbor commented how amazed she was at the rapid and full growth of the new plants. I told her I had been using Megagro. She was really impressed and wants to know more.

I live in a city apartment building which receives little light, and I travel often, leaving my house plants to fend for themselves. Although I love them, my house plants were not thriving under this environment. A few squirts of MegaGro every week has not only kept my plants alive, but they are more full, lush, and colorful than ever before!

I used MegaGro on my budding paperwhite bulbs. I sprayed MegaGro on the bulb, just as it was beginning to grow and the plants turned out to be HUGE. They also grew at the quickest rate I've ever seen. MegaGro caused me to see a noticeable difference in the growth of my plants. I'm definitely using it on my summer flowers.

I have an indoor pool surrounded by a variety of tropical plants. I thought the plants were doing well with the usual water and fertilizer until about 6 months ago when I started using MegaGro. Now, I've got myself a mini rainforest - lush, green, and beautiful. It would have taken several years to get to this point if I had continued with the "old-fashioned" approach.
