IP035 White Morning Glory Bush Ipomoea fistulosa
Now you can enjoy morning glory blooms, even if you do not have the space to grow the vines.
This interesting plant is in the Ipomoea morning glory family with a shrub-like growth habit. It is described as growing in exceedingly dry places and can be considered a xeriscape plant, but does well in about any type of flower garden. The bush morning glory is the most prolific bloomers of any of the summer perennials.
The plant is covered with medium-size, white morning glory blooms all summer. Blooms last only one day but clusters of blooms are formed in the axil of every leaf. Plants can get 6-8 feet tall with multiple trunks. When hard frosts kill plants, the tops should be removed; in South central Texas plants will sprout again from the hardy root system the following May. Once established the bush morning glory is a tough (drought-tolerant and heat-tolerant) plant. It blooms best in direct sun and will not bloom as well if receiving less than 8-10 hours of direct sun. Plants can be cut back monthly to encourage branching and increase blooming surface.
Cutting back in July will reduce plant height and encourage a spectacular fall bloom. This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and birds.
A tender perennial that will die back in cold weather, but will grow back in spring in warmer zones.

D9804 Giant Moonflower( Ipomea alba var )
The moonflower is a vigorous twining vine that is very fast growing in really hot weather. It is a tender tropical perennial but is now seeing popular use as an annual vine in colder areas.
This close relative of the morning glory has similar heart shaped leaves that are a rich green and 4-8 inches long. They provide a beautiful backdrop for the spectacular moonflowers.
This vine also known as the evening glory as its buds open in late afternoon and last only until morning's light transforms them into a limp shriveled mass.
Moonflower makes up for the brief lifespans of individual flowers by producing quantities of the big blossoms throughout the summer. These are held on a stem that bears several buds simultaneously, not all of which bloom the same night. The long 4 inch buds are also very attractive especially in the hours just before the flower opens.
And what a fabulous flower the moon vine produces! They are fluted funnels sculpted in purest alabaster white. About the diameter of a saucer measuring 5-6 inches across.
As if the moonflower was not already enchanting enough, it also has a delightful fragrance to complement its beauty and perfume warm summer nights.
