Pinch back spent flowers to prolong bloom season and encourage fullness. These are tolerant of wet weather and somewhat deer resistant.
Plants are vigorous, base branching and flower at the same time as Pansies. Retains compact mound-like habit during extreme heat.

Unique double-petal type. Also known as an azalea type, Madame Butterfly's double petals create full, fluffy blooms for a Victorian look. Excellent cut flower with white-throated trumpet and salmon bronze-colored petals. For outdoor or greenhouse production.
Edible Flowers: The flowers are a colorful garnish for use in salads, desserts, and drinks. The flavor is floral and slightly bitter, so use sparingly. Grows 26-36 inches tall.

Germination Instructions: Freeze seed for 48 hours before sowing. Sow Feb. to Mar. 15th for May transplants. Use Jiffy Mix or sterilized sandy loam. Firm and water thoroughly before sowing. Sow thinly in rows 1/8 inch deep. Do not cover seeds. Press seed firmly into seed bed. Cover flats with plastic to conserve moisture. Germinate @ 70 F soil temp. for 7 days. (80 F air temp.) Transplant in 6 weeks, at the same depth as seedlings. Shade transplants with cheese cloth from direct sun until established. Keep well watered.
