Aubrieta Seed ( Perennial )

MON045 Superbissima Cascade Blue ( Aubrieta Hybrida Superbissima )

Superbissima Cascade Blue Rock Cress (Aubrieta hybrida 'Superbissima Cascade Blue') is a spectacular evergreen perennial that produces a breathtaking cascade of rich violet-blue flowers over dense mats of gray-green foliage each spring. As one of the finest trailing aubrietas available, it quickly transforms retaining walls, rock gardens, raised beds, and garden edges into flowing waterfalls of vibrant color. Blooming just as winter gives way to spring, this hardy perennial provides weeks of brilliant beauty while attracting bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators.

Garden Uses
Superbissima Cascade Blue is ideal for rock gardens, alpine gardens, retaining walls, stone pathways, raised beds, containers, hanging baskets, sunny borders, and gravel gardens. Its naturally cascading habit makes it especially beautiful spilling over walls or tumbling from elevated planters. It pairs wonderfully with creeping phlox, candytuft, arabis, dianthus, dwarf iris, alyssum, sedums, creeping thyme, and spring-flowering bulbs. Large plantings create an unforgettable carpet of brilliant blue during early spring.

Growing Information
Grow Superbissima Cascade Blue in full sun and sharply drained soil. Sandy, gravelly, or rocky soils are ideal, while heavy clay or poorly drained locations should be avoided. Mature plants typically grow 4 to 6 inches tall while spreading 18 to 24 inches or more, forming dense evergreen mats. Once established, they are highly drought tolerant and require very little maintenance. Lightly shear plants after flowering to maintain a compact habit and encourage fresh evergreen growth. Seeds germinate readily when lightly covered and kept evenly moist during establishment.
