Bolusanthus speciosus, commonly known as the tree wisteria or African wisteria, is a beautiful and hardy flowering tree native to southern Africa. It is a highly sought-after ornamental plant known for its stunning display of pendulous, purple-mauve, pea-like flowers.
The tree's most prominent feature is its abundant and fragrant blue-violet to purple flowers. These appear in long, drooping clusters, or racemes, often covering the entire tree in spring on its bare branches.
A slow growing tree to 20 ft. outside in warm climates, but also makes an excellent bonsai plant as well. Best suited for zones 9b-11 outside.
