Marquee Ruffled Coral Salmon Begonia Seeds

Marquee™ Ruffled Coral Salmon is an outstanding F1 tuberous begonia grown for its enormous, fully double flowers in beautiful warm shades of coral and salmon. The heavily ruffled petals give each bloom an exceptionally full, luxurious appearance, with individual flowers capable of reaching an impressive 5 to 9 inches across. Plants develop an upright, well-branched habit approximately 14 to 20 inches tall, creating a spectacular display from late spring through summer and into fall. Formerly associated with the famous AmeriHybrid® begonias, the Marquee series represents a new generation of these exceptionally large-flowered tuberous begonias.

This begonia is particularly impressive in patio containers, decorative pots, shaded garden beds and protected porch plantings where its enormous blossoms can be appreciated up close. Plants prefer bright shade or partial sun and should be protected from intense afternoon sunlight in hot climates. Space plants about 12 to 16 inches apart, or give individual container plants sufficient room to develop their broad flowering canopy. Consistent moisture produces the best growth, but the growing medium should drain freely because tuberous begonias dislike remaining waterlogged. Regular light feeding during active growth helps support the continuous production of these unusually large flowers.

Seeds are pelleted for easier handling and should be started indoors in a fine, sterile seed-starting medium. Sow on the surface without covering, as light is beneficial for germination, and maintain temperatures around 72 to 76°F with high, even moisture until seedlings become established. Germination generally begins within about 7 to 14 days under favorable conditions, although the tiny seedlings require patience and careful watering during their early development. Allow approximately 7 to 8 weeks for plug development and another 11 to 15 weeks after transplanting for finished flowering plants.
