Pack-Pro Broccoli Seeds

Replaces Packman, which has been a favorite for years. Pack-Pro Broccoli is an early-maturing F1 hybrid developed as an excellent replacement for the popular Packman variety. Compact, vigorous plants produce large, tight, attractive green heads with a pleasant crunchy texture and excellent flavor. With maturity in about 55 days, Pack-Pro is a particularly useful choice for gardeners wanting a dependable broccoli that does not require a long growing season.

One of the best features of Pack-Pro is its ability to continue producing after the main head has been harvested. Cutting the central head encourages the development of numerous tender side shoots, extending the harvest and providing additional smaller heads for fresh eating. The compact, semi-domed plants are widely adapted and perform well under a range of growing conditions. Pack-Pro is especially well suited to fall production, when cool temperatures help produce firm, high-quality heads, although it can also be grown as a spring crop in most areas.

For best results, grow in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil with consistent moisture throughout the growing period. Start seeds indoors about 4 to 6 weeks before transplanting, or direct sow where conditions permit, covering seeds about 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep. Space established plants approximately 18 to 24 inches apart to allow good head development and air circulation. Harvest the main head while the buds are still tight and compact, then leave the plant growing to take advantage of the productive side shoots that follow.
