Sensation Dazzler Cosmos is a brilliant selection of Cosmos bipinnatus known for its glowing deep crimson-red blooms and bright golden centers. The flowers are large, open, and daisy-like, carried on tall, graceful stems above finely cut, fern-like foliage. As part of the classic Sensation group, Dazzler brings bold color, excellent garden height, and a long season of bloom from summer until frost. Its vivid color makes it a standout in borders, cottage gardens, cutting gardens, and pollinator plantings.
Garden Uses:
Sensation Dazzler is ideal for cottage gardens, cutting gardens, pollinator plantings, wildflower gardens, annual borders, and mixed flower beds. The rich crimson flowers create strong contrast when planted with white cosmos, pink cosmos, zinnias, sunflowers, cleome, salvias, marigolds, and ornamental grasses. Its tall, airy habit makes it especially useful for the middle or back of borders, where the flowers can sway naturally above lower-growing plants. The long stems also make excellent cut flowers for fresh bouquets.
Growing Information:
Direct sow seeds outdoors after danger of frost has passed, or start indoors 3-4 weeks before transplanting. Seeds germinate readily in 7-14 days at temperatures of 70-75°F. Plants prefer full sun and well-drained soil. Cosmos often flowers best in average to moderately poor soil, as overly rich soil may produce lush foliage with fewer blooms. Sensation Dazzler typically grows 36-60 inches tall and spreads 18-24 inches wide. Deadheading spent flowers encourages continued blooming, though plants are naturally free-flowering once established.
