Chinese Pinks Seeds

Chinese Pinks Dianthus seeds. Chinese Pinks.
AW53 Chinese Pinks ( Dianthus chinensis )

Chinese Pinks (Dianthus chinensis) are charming, free-flowering perennials that produce masses of brightly colored, delicately fringed blooms in brilliant shades of crimson, scarlet, rose, pink, lavender, white, and striking bicolors. Blooming continuously from late spring until frost, the cheerful flowers rise above neat mounds of attractive blue-green foliage and fill the garden with a light, spicy fragrance. Compact, colorful, and exceptionally easy to grow, Chinese Pinks are ideal for borders, rock gardens, containers, and cottage gardens where they provide months of dependable color.

Garden Uses:

Chinese Pinks are excellent for edging, perennial borders, rock gardens, cottage gardens, patio containers, window boxes, raised beds, and pollinator gardens. Their compact habit makes them especially valuable along pathways and garden edges where their colorful blooms can be appreciated up close. They combine beautifully with alyssum, campanulas, coreopsis, creeping phlox, lavender, salvia, and ornamental grasses.

Growing Information:

Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost or directly outdoors after danger of frost has passed. Cover seeds lightly with fine growing medium and maintain temperatures between 65-70°F. Germination generally occurs within 7-14 days. Plants thrive in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Once established, Chinese Pinks tolerate moderate drought and require only occasional watering during extended dry periods. Regular deadheading encourages continuous blooming throughout the growing season and keeps plants neat and compact.
