TWT317 Guardian Gold Marigold
Guardian Gold is a specialized variety of French marigold (Tagetes patula) renowned for its exceptional natural pest-control properties, particularly against soil-borne nematodes.
Featurs superior nematode control. Tested with a 99% success rate, it is more effective than many chemical pesticides at killing harmful root-knot nematodes. Its roots contain natural toxins that eliminate these pests and their eggs.
While it works below ground to protect vegetable crops like tomatoes and peppers, it produces vibrant, single golden-orange blooms above ground. These marigolds attract beneficial insects such as bees, butterflies, ladybugs, and predatory wasps, helping to maintain a balanced garden ecosystem.
Early Warning System: This variety can act as a "trap plant" for thrips, as they are attracted to the marigolds up to two weeks earlier than to sticky traps.
Height: Typically grows between 12 to 24 inches tall.
Light Requirements: Thrives in full sun (at least 6 hours daily).
Planting: Seeds can be direct-sown after the last frost once the soil has warmed, or started indoors 4–6 weeks early.
Spacing: Best planted in clusters or dense rows, spaced approximately 10–24 inches apart depending on garden use.
Bloom Time: Continuous blooming from early summer until the first frost.
