It is believed that an infusion made from the leaves will traditionally used in herbal teas. The raw root can be pared and chewed to traditionally used for soothing herbal preparations. The leaves and roots can be cooked and eaten and are said to be an immune system stimulant. The plant is a hardy perennial that bears lovely 1-inch wide flowers that are edible.
