Heavenly Blue Morning Glory is one of the most beloved flowering vines ever introduced to gardens, producing an abundance of enormous sky-blue blooms with luminous white throats that seem to glow in the morning sunlight. The flowers can reach 4-5 inches across and open fresh each morning, creating a spectacular display against the vine's heart-shaped green foliage. Fast-growing and easy to cultivate, Heavenly Blue quickly transforms fences, trellises, arbors, and garden structures into breathtaking walls of color.
Garden Uses:
Heavenly Blue is ideal for covering fences, trellises, pergolas, arbors, mailboxes, porch railings, and garden obelisks. The vigorous vines create excellent seasonal privacy screens and can quickly soften unattractive structures with lush foliage and flowers. They are also useful in cottage gardens, pollinator gardens, and children's gardens where their rapid growth and impressive blooms can be appreciated throughout the summer.
Growing Information:
Sow seeds directly outdoors after danger of frost has passed or start indoors 3-4 weeks before planting time. Nicking or soaking seeds overnight before sowing can improve germination. Plant seeds about 1/2 inch deep in well-drained soil and provide sturdy support for climbing. Germination usually occurs within 5-14 days at temperatures of 70-80°F. Plants thrive in full sun and can reach 10-15 feet or more during a single growing season. Water regularly while establishing, but mature vines are relatively drought tolerant once established.
