Black Velvet Nasturtium Seeds

Black Velvet Nasturtium.
TWT312 Black Velvet

Black Velvet Nasturtium is one of the most dramatic and distinctive nasturtiums available, producing velvety, near-black maroon flowers that appear almost black in certain lighting conditions. The rich, dark blooms stand in striking contrast against the plant's soft blue-green foliage, creating an elegant and sophisticated display rarely found among annual flowers. Compact, easy to grow, and highly ornamental, Black Velvet adds a touch of mystery and refinement to containers, borders, cottage gardens, and edible landscapes.

Garden Uses:
Black Velvet Nasturtium is ideal for containers, hanging baskets, window boxes, raised beds, cottage gardens, and decorative vegetable gardens. Its dark flowers create spectacular contrast when paired with white alyssum, silver foliage plants, yellow marigolds, orange calendula, or blue lobelia. The compact growth habit makes it especially useful in smaller gardens where every plant must contribute maximum visual impact.

Growing Information:
Sow seeds directly outdoors after danger of frost has passed, or start indoors 2-4 weeks before planting. For faster germination, soak seeds overnight before sowing. Plant seeds approximately 1/2 inch deep in well-drained soil. Germination usually occurs within 7-14 days at temperatures between 65-75°F. Plants perform best in full sun but tolerate light afternoon shade in warmer climates. Black Velvet typically reaches 10-14 inches tall and spreads 12-18 inches, forming compact mounds covered with blooms throughout the growing season.
