Saratoga Mix Flowering Tobacco is a colorful, compact Nicotiana blend that produces an abundance of fragrant blooms in shades of white, lime green, rose, pink, red, lavender, and crimson. Developed specifically for bedding and container use, the Saratoga series offers earlier flowering, improved branching, and a more compact habit than traditional flowering tobaccos. The star-shaped flowers provide months of color while filling the garden with a sweet fragrance, especially during the evening hours.
Garden Uses:
Saratoga Mix is ideal for containers, patio pots, window boxes, cottage gardens, mixed borders, pollinator gardens, fragrance gardens, and mass plantings. The wide range of flower colors creates vibrant displays in flower beds and blends beautifully with petunias, marigolds, salvias, verbena, and ornamental grasses. Its compact size also makes it an excellent choice for smaller gardens and front-of-border plantings.
Growing Information:
Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost. Because seeds are very fine, sow them on the surface of moist growing media and lightly press into place without covering deeply. Germination typically occurs within 10-20 days at temperatures of 70-75°F. Transplant outdoors after frost danger has passed. Plants prefer full sun to partial shade and thrive in fertile, well-drained soil. Saratoga Mix generally reaches 12-18 inches tall with a spread of 10-14 inches and flowers continuously from summer until frost.
