Moudry is a stunning, hardy perennial ornamental grass, prized for its large, dark purple-black, bottlebrush-like plumes that appear in late summer and fall. It grows in a 2-3 foot wide, tidy mound of lush green foliage that turns golden-yellow in autumn.
Deep purple to near-black flower spikes appear 3-5 weeks later than typical fountain grasses, providing late-season color. Arching, glossy dark green foliage, roughly 2-3 feet tall and wide. Full sun is required for best flowering.
Tolerant of various soils, including clay and drought conditions once established, but prefers well-drained, moist soil.
Hardiness: Generally hardy to Zone 5-9, though sometimes rated specifically for Zone 6.
Black foxtail-like flowers in fall, lush green foliage, perennial, good cutting material, grows 36" tall, hardy to zone 4.
