From northern India comes this selection of the Silver Date Palm. The very large seeds produce quick-growing, robust seedlings and eventually a thick-trunked, stately tree with a full crown of magnificent silvery-gray, plumose leaves.
This palm can take considerable exposure to frost and is one of the large Phoenix palms suited to climates with hot, humid summers as well as tropical climates. For USDA Zones 8b-11; also makes a great container palm when young.
