Champagne Orange Bubbles Poppy (Papaver somniferum var.) is a bright and cheerful ornamental annual admired for its glowing orange, tangerine, apricot-orange, and golden-coral blooms. The flowers have delicate, crinkled petals with a soft satin sheen, surrounding bright yellow stamens and fresh green centers. Their warm, sparkling color gives the garden a lively, sunlit appearance, making this variety especially attractive in cottage gardens and mixed annual borders.
Garden Uses
Champagne Orange Bubbles Poppy is excellent for cottage gardens, annual borders, cutting gardens, pollinator plantings, meadow-style gardens, and heirloom flower displays. Its vivid orange blooms pair beautifully with blue larkspur, purple salvia, white alyssum, nigella, bachelor's buttons, lavender, and ornamental grasses.
The rounded seed pods add ornamental value after bloom and may be used in dried arrangements and garden crafts.
Growing Information
Sow seeds directly outdoors where plants are to grow, as poppies dislike transplanting. Scatter seed over prepared soil and press gently into the surface, covering only very lightly. Cool weather encourages best germination and strong early growth.
Plants generally grow 30 to 40 inches tall and perform best in full sun with well-drained soil. Once established, they require little care and tolerate moderate drought. Water during extended dry periods, but avoid soggy soil or heavy fertilization.
