TA24 Madole Tobacco
If we had to grow only one variety tobacco on our farm, this would be the one that seems to be the most versatile, and has a deep rich flavor.
Madole is a traditional heirloom dark tobacco variety known for its robust, full-bodied flavor and early maturity. The leaves fire-cure to a dark brown color with a rich, full flavor, and is most commonly used for chewing tobacco, cigar binder, snuff, and cigarette blends.
If you want to get a full flavored cigarette tobacco like non-filtered commercial varieties, mix one quarter madole with three quarters smooth tobacco like Virginia Gold or Golden Seal.
It typically matures in 55–60 days after transplanting, making it one of the faster-maturing dark tobacco varieties.
The plant reaches heights of 36–60 inches with deep green, moderately narrow leaves that can exceed two feet in length.
