It was developed by crossing Canadian and American varieties to improve quality and disease resistance and to lower nicotine. Its slightly heavier, thicker leaves cure nicely with a high percentage of mahogany and orange leaves. The flavour is said to be somewhat bolder than other varieties, but not too strong, with a rich tobacco flavor and a very heavy yield.
