It is highly valued for its chewing, smoking and medicinal uses. It is said to have only trace nicotine. Hardy to 15 degrees. It will flower when very young.

Note from Jim: I tried this a few years back. I dried the leaves and mixed in a bit of burley and flavored it with some of our flavoring ( tried vanilla, rum, whiskey, brandy and cherry, loved them all ) and found it to be an excellent pipe tobacco.
